OVERVIEW

 April Cottage is a small family run B&B in a detached property with a garden. It is situated on a slight incline away from a level 10-minute walk from the main town on St. Mary's as well as the quay, shops, beaches and numerous restaurants.

All guest accommodation is situated on the first floor, up stairs.

We aim to cater for all our guests' needs and the following statement is designed as a summary of relevant information and we would ask you to contact us prior to arrival if you require any special assistance or have any further queries.

 

ARRIVAL ON ST. MARY'S      

 Helicopter passengers will be met on arrival at the airport by Woodcock Bus Services (077864 28739) who will transport you for a fee to April Cottage and book your return journey. Taxis are also available but need to be pre-booked - if you would prefer this option, please let us know.

 Skybus passengers are met on arrival at the airport by Paulger's Transport (01720 423701) who will transport you to April Cottage and book your return journey. Scillonian III passengers will arrive at the quay. Luggage labelled for your destination can be loaded on the quay at Penzance and will be delivered to April Cottage for a small fee per item. A similar service is offered for the return crossing. You will have to walk from the quay to the accommodation - 10 minutes flat - 2 minutes slight incline. If you require taxi transport from the quay, please let us know in advance.

Directions from quay: from the quay follow the main road through the centre of town bearing left towards the Town Hall. With the Town Hall on your right and a green park where the road divides take the right hand side and follow this road up towards the Parish Church. In front of the church take the road to the right up the slight incline and April Cottage is on your right hand side clearly identified.

 

CAR-PARKING

In the unlikely event you would bring your own transport to Scilly we only offer off-road parking.

 

 EXTERNAL ACCESS:

There is a slight slope down the drive which leads to a concrete path.

We can assist with luggage.

There is good outside lighting provided via a timer switch.

 

MAIN ENTRANCE & RECEPTION:

 The front door is reached by a 22cm high step.

 The front door leads to a hallway.

 There is no seating available in the hall.

 The ground floor is carpeted with the exception of the dining room/conservatory.

 

PUBLIC AREAS:

Carpeted stairs lead from the hallway to the guest accommodation

The first step measures 24cm (H) 75cm (W) 22cm (D)

The remaining 12 steps turn and measure 18cm (H) 69cm (W) and 22cm (D)

There is a separate ground floor WC available for guest use

 

GUEST LOUNGE/DINING ROOM/EATING ARRANGEMENTS

 The guest lounge is located on the ground floor and is carpeted. It comprises a three-seater sofa and one two-seater sofa as well as wooden chairs and a high-backed armchair.

 The dining room/conservatory is also on the ground floor and is accessed from the guest lounge via an 89cm wide door, step through and down 23cm with a depth of 16cm. Floor surface is non-slip mosaic, washable. Natural and electric lighting.

Meals are table service standard with assistance available. Tables measure 90 sq cm and have 64cm leg room and are 19cm high.

 

 

LAUNDRY

 Laundry is not available on site. A public facility (service wash) is available 5 minutes walk away (slight incline down hill) on Porthcressa Beach (service not available weekends).

 

PURCHASES

Not available on site. Shops are located a 10-minute walk away down a slight incline in the main town.

We carry information for all purchases, restaurants etc. at the property and are happy to advise.
